If you are planing to store your caravan away for the winter, regardless if it is at home or in a storage facility, you must still ensure it’s properly prepared to protect it from the winter elements. You need to make sure that all water systems are drained in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.

Caravan Winter Drain Down Service

Over the winter months, water becomes a major problem and although your caravan is not in use, it is the time when the most damage can occur. Water ingress, dampness and mildew are all common problems. In addition, frost damage to your boiler and split pipes caused by freezing water can be a nightmare. The pipework in a caravan is well concealed and the problem often only becomes evident well after the damage has been done.

Winter Checks

  • Water supply disconnected
  • drainage plugs, inside and out of the caravan have been located and opened
  • taps are drained including the shower and left open

  • Toilet fully drained

  • Pipework is blown through

  • All heaters drained

  • Any obstructions to pipes/plugs removed

  • The gas switched off and isolated

  • Remove the battery for storage unless it is left on a mains hook up
